How to use our repeat prescription service
How to order
Because of the risk of mistakes we do not
accept telephone requests for repeat prescriptions.
Your reorder form
If you receive an ongoing medication, we usually make it possible for you to renew your prescription without having to see a doctor. Attached to each prescription is a reorder form. You may use this form to order your next prescription. Against each medication listed on the form is a tick box. Tick the medications you want to order.
Ways of ordering your medication
- Hand in the reorder form to the reception desk or
- Post your reorder form to Malago Surgery or
- Fax your reorder form to Malago Surgery on 963 1422
- E-mail details of the items you require to malago.surgery@nhs.net.
Prescriptions are sorted each day at 10:45am. If you hand in your prescription before this time it will usually be ready by the next day. If you hand it in after 10:45am it will be ready in 2 days. Make sure you reorder at least 2 days before your current prescription runs out.
How to collect your prescription
- Collect it from the reception desk, then take it to the pharmacy of your choice.
- By post. If you attached a stamped addressed envelope we will post it back to you, then take the prescription to the pharmacy of your choice.
- From the pharmacist. If you instruct us we will send your prescription to the pharmacy directly. Most local pharmacies collect completed prescriptions from us daily. If you wish to use this service please check with reception to make sure the pharmacy you wish to use collects from us.
Home delivery
Some pharmacies are willing to deliver dispensed prescriptions directly to your home. They reserve this service for those who have physical difficulty getting to a pharmacy. If you wish to have your prescription delivered to your home please contact your pharmacy first. If they give permission you must then let our receptionists know so that the instruction can be attached to your future prescriptions.
Do you find your tablets confusing?
If you are on so many tablets that you often get in a muddle, or can't remember whether you have taken them or not, it is well worth paying a small amount of money and buying a dosette box from your local pharmacist. These are boxes with compartments. Tablets can be placed in each compartment, and each compartment is clearly marked to indicate which day, and which time of day, those particular tablets should be taken. Each dosette box can be filled with a weeks supply of tablets. You can do this yourself, or get a trusted friend or relative to do it for you. If you feel you cannot do it yourself, and have no-one to do it for you, then your pharmacy may agree to provide a pre-filled weekly dosette box for you.
"I have lost my reorder slip"
Do not fear. Simply write down your name, address and the CORRECT spelling of the medication you need, or complete one of our prescription request forms and hand it in to our receptionist in the usual way .
"My prescription has run out!"
Let the receptionist know, and she will take your telephone number. The duty doctor will ring you back. This is a service of last resort. Please check your tablets regularly and order at least 2 days before you need them.
