We would like our patients to play an active part in helping us to improve the services we offer. So that we can get your views on our proposals for changes, we would like to set up an email reference group.

Three or four times a year we will email you to ask your opinions about selected topics concerning the way we run the Practice and changes we would like to make. We would also be able to send out copies of our Newsletter and other useful information.

You can be assured that if you participate in our Reference Group, your views would be anonymised and would not affect your medical treatment. Your email address would not be shared with other patients.

The group will be used to discuss general issues and may not be used to ask questions about individual patients or their treatments. We will not respond to any questions about personal medical issues.

Any information you supply will be used lawfully in accordance with the Data Protection Act 1998.

If you would like to join the Malago Surgery Email Reference Group. Please email the Practice Manager at malago.erg@nhs.net to request an application form or click on the link below to download an application form that you can email to malago.erg@nhs.net

Wednesday Evening and Saturday morning
booked appointments

In response to the Government's request for GPs to offer extended surgery hours, we invited patients to participate in a survey to let us know when they would prefer the surgery to be open. The vast majority of patients had already indicated that they were quite satisfied with our opening hours. Nevertheless, from the results of this recent survey it was obvious that many patients would like to be able to book early evening and Saturday morning appointments.

From 2nd July 2008, we have been offering pre-booked appointments between 6:30pm and 8:00pm on Wednesday evenings and between 9:00am and 11:00am on Saturday morning. We would hope that if you are normally able to attend the surgery between 8:00am and 6:30pm, you would continue to do so and allow patients who find these times too inconvenient to book the Wednesday evening and Saturday morning appointments.

You should note that the reception service during the extended Wednesday evening and Saturday morning period will be very limited. The receptionist will be available to book you in when you arrive and to book you future appointments. She will also be able to give you your repeat prescription if it has been signed by a doctor. But she will not be able to give you prescriptions that have not yet been signed, nor will she be able to access your blood and other test results.

In addition, we will not be able to register new patients or attend to medical emergencies during the extended hours on Wednesday and Saturday. You may, however, contact our Out of Hours service, BriSDoc, as usual by telephoning

0845 121 0209

Please remember that the out of hours service is for emergencies only. BriSDoc do not have access to your medical records so please do not try and use them for ongoing medical care - wait to contact us when we are next open.

Patient Satisfaction Survey Report

During January to March 2012, we conducted a patient satisfaction survey. We invited all patients who attended both Malago Surgery and BS1 Surgery to complete a questionnaire that had been agreed with our Patient Reference Group. We also sent out questionnaires to a random sample of patients who had not had an appointment with a doctor or nurse in the past 12 months. Click on the link below to read our survey report and action plan.
